PRE-FACE – Tuesday, December 14, 2004

Good morning.

  • "The challengers who went to the Supreme Court question whether Bush won the key swing state by 119,000 votes…" Yeah, Ohio. Remember, going into the election, these people believed without hesitation that it was impossible for the President to win Ohio and/or the nation. They're battling a reality which does not mesh with theirs, a trait also found in various acid helmet heads.

  • Senate Dems plan to become the watchdog of the peoples' money, setting up their own oversight committee to challenge the GOP. Yes, they're serious, and its actually kinda cute.

  • The Chief filed a written opinion Monday, but Rehnquist dropped out of two more and is said to be close to missing a dozen more.

It looks to me like he might be hanging on to read the Constitutionally prescribed oath of office to the President of the United States, after which he will step down. This will give him 5 Presidential swearing-ins and an impeachment trial. And a remarkable career.

As I've said in the past, his dissents from the '70s and early '80s should be published in book form and made available through a conservative book service.
