PRE-FACE – Monday, December 6, 2004

Good morning

  • President Bush won Ohio last month with something like 119,000 votes, but it seems a bunch of Dems had laid the money aside anyway, so… they're suing. They complain of long lines, not enough voting machines, etc.

Prima facie, it seems to be a belligerent nuisance.

  • Kofi Anna maintains his refusal to resign, and Malaysia's foreign minister, Syed Hamid Albar, has declared that Annan is in such trouble only because "he has been critical about (the United States') attitude of snubbing multilateral approaches." More likely, though, Annan was critical of the U.S. invasion of Iraq because he knew that a removal of Saddam Hussein would unravel his Oil for Food swindle.

  • Some astronomers and others suggest that the Biblical Star of Bethlehem from Matthew's gospel was actually an occultation of the planet Jupiter or a UFO. It's science, you know.
