Nicholson to Veterans Affairs

The Prez has tapped former Virginia Governor* Jim Nicholson to take over at the Department of Veterans Affairs. (Nicholson was also RNC Chairman and Ambassador to the Holy See.)

Like outgoing VA Sec. Tony Principi, Nicholson was a decorated combat veteran in Vietnam.

Among other rumbles, I've heard retiring Senator John Breaux (D-Louisiana) mentioned as a possible replacement for Spence Abraham at the Department of Energy. During his Senate career, Breaux prided himself on being the Mullah of the Moderates, the Sultan of the Centrists, the Ayatollah of the Non-aligned, the Bishop of the Bipartisanship. He took the consensus opinion, made it his own, and stuck to it.

* Nicholson was governor of neither Virginia nor anywhere else. I was doubltess thinking of Gilmore at the same time, which is not a good thing to do.

Thanks to John Behan (Commonwealth Conservative), an elected prosecutor in the Commonwealth of Virginia, to catching my mistake.

FWIW, Nicholson isn't a former Virginia governor. I think he's from Colorado.
