Footing the Bill
Democrats in Washington (the State) have given their government a cashier's check for $730,000 as a down payment to fund a recount of all 2.9-million ballots in all 88 counties. Democrat gubernatorial candidate Christine Gregoire, who was the certified loser to Republican Dino Rossi by 42 votes, had said she would not contest the election unless the Dems sprung for a State-wide recount rather than a smaller one involving only counties in which they thought they could turn things around.
The Dems raised the money, they said, thought quickie online contributions, which is what I said could happen and proves the power of the 'net to accomplish these types of mass-mobilization goals. (NOTE: The Deaniacs do not count toward my thesis, as that was more a case of mass-hysteria.)
