Corzine will run for NJ governor
Senator Jon Corzine (D-New Jersey)has evidently decided that he will seek his party's nomination to run for governor of the Garden State. There are two other Democrats said to be interested and seven Republicans. A Quinnipiac poll released two weeks ago shows Corzine walking away with the election.
The governor's election is 2005. Corzine is up for reelection to the Senate in 2006, and he will not have to resign if he runs. If, say, Doug Forrester beats him next November – like he could not defeat Frank Lautenberg in 2002 – then Corzine can go back to sitting with the Senate minority.
