Chirac calls Bush

French President Jacques Chirac called U.S. President George W. Bush Tuesday to congratulate him on his electoral victory a week earlier. This was, White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan intimated, because the call could not be arranged earlier, that "we have worked to schedule these calls at a mutually convenient time."

Chirac did write a congratulatory letter last week. One would have thought that Chirac might have pulled an Alan Keyes: "I will not make a false gesture."

So the surgery was successful!! It took a week, but they finally got Jacques' lips seperated from Arafat's right buttock!
