Alberto Gonzalez as A.G.
Reuters has it that White House counsel Alberto Gonzalez is set to be nominated as the next Attorney General.
His confirmation hearings (fight?) could be seen as a prelude hearings on his possible Supreme Court nomination in the near future, and Dems, if they want to be seen as giving Gonzalez a fair shake in his A.G. hearings, would be best to point out that the two positions are not the same, thus their positions on Gonzalez might not be the same.
They won't fight him "to the death," probably, as a member of the President's cabinet, but they'll want to leave their options open to do so if he is nominated to the top Court.
THINK, though: Abu Ghraib. You might hear some "Gonzalez, Bush, and abuse."
