Zarqawi and bin Laden

A web site has posted claims that Abu Musab al-Zarqawi now thinks that "allegiance of Tawhid and Jihad's [Zarqawi's terror clubs] leadership and soldiers to the chief of all fighters, Osama bin Laden." Evidently, the Zarqawi's club and bin Laden's network had been talking for eight months, were interrupted, then resumed their dialogue.

The web site said this was done "to spite the infidels and frighten the enemies of Islam." The U.S. has been rocking Fallujah for a few days in search of Zarqawi, and the United States has recently put the two groups on the terrorists' list.

I'm am not convinced that Zarqawi exists and/or is running the show in Iraq.

JF Kerry might run with this. The Bush Administration has long held that Zarqawi was a link between Saddam Hussein and al Qaeda; this web site would indicate otherwise. It may be a trick designed to help them in the battle of Fallujah. I'm not trying to start a nasty Internet rumor, and this is a personal comment rather than a report of any kind, but I would not be surprised to find one of the anti-Bush 527s behind the site.

I don't know about Z, but I'm pretty confident in saying that Osama is long dead.

Well said. As far as I can tell, Zarqawi has not been seen for over 2 years. His name is being used for cover by various insurgents, and by the Bushies as a convenient, political boogeyman.
