Cheney: Kerry no Reagan
JF Kerry has said that he would lead a thoughtful foreign policy, like JF Kennedy's, which involved starting the war he protested, and Ronald Reagan, who took actions he opposed. The Veep said today in New Mexico that JF had voted against President Reagan's weapons systems which helped to end bring the Soviets tumbling down: "So if John Kerry had been in charge, maybe the Soviet Union would still be in business."
Of course, Kerry could then counter that Reagan was wrong to win the cold war, because if we still had the Soviet Union in play, we would not have this kind of terrorist problem. It would be interesting to hear that naive argument escape his lips -- and it would sans his handlers -- but he seems to be in the middle of another patriotic-esque phase.
